About HydroPower Exterior Cleaning

At HydroPower Exterior Cleaning, we believe your property should look as strong and impressive as the work that built it.

Led by Matt Dutton, HydroPower has grown into one of the region’s most trusted exterior cleaning and restoration companies—serving residential and commercial clients across Southeastern Pennsylvania with consistency, professionalism, and high-impact results.

With over 500 five-star reviews, our reputation is built on one thing:
doing the job right—every time.

Today, HydroPower has expanded beyond cleaning into a complete exterior solutions provider with the addition of HP Lighting Solutions—offering permanent roofline lighting and custom landscape lighting systems designed to elevate properties year-round.

Our Story

HydroPower Exterior Cleaning was founded in 2019 by Tyler Kropp, who started the company at just 17 years old while still in high school. Built on hustle and determination, the company quickly gained traction as a reliable and respected local service provider.

A few years later, an unexpected connection sparked the next chapter.

When Matt Dutton’s son, Cole, mentioned that Tyler might be selling HydroPower, Matt reached out directly. Tyler wasn’t looking to sell at the time—but suggested they meet for lunch.

That meeting became more than a business conversation—it formed a genuine friendship built on shared values, work ethic, and mutual respect. During that lunch, Tyler even invited Matt to partner on a new roofing venture.

Matt’s response was simple:

He wasn’t looking for a startup—but if Tyler ever decided to sell HydroPower, he would be ready to buy it.

Years later, Tyler honored that conversation. The result was a deal built on trust—passing HydroPower into Matt’s hands to lead the company into its next phase of growth.

Leadership & Partnership

HydroPower’s strength is not just in its services—but in the experience behind it.

Matt Dutton and Ed Wilkinson, owner of Wilkinson & Associates, have been friends and professional collaborators for over 25 years, working together on numerous construction projects. When Matt identified the opportunity to purchase HydroPower, Ed was invited to be part of the venture.

With both bringing extensive commercial construction backgrounds, their combined experience has elevated HydroPower’s culture, systems, and customer experience—multiplying the level of professionalism and execution delivered on every project.

Matt’s background in construction, entrepreneurship, and community
leadership shapes how HydroPower operates today:

Meet the Owner: Matt Dutton

Matt Dutton, President of HydroPower Exterior Cleaning, brings over three decades of real-world construction and business experience to the company.

Born on April 11, 1974, and raised in Springfield, Delaware County, Matt moved to Collegeville in 2002, where he continues to live and work today. He attended Kutztown University—where he played one season of collegiate baseball—and Delaware County Community College, earning a certificate in Construction Management.

With 34 years of experience in both commercial and residential construction, Matt has worked on projects totaling over $1 billion in value—ranging from airport runways and taxiways to heavy highway infrastructure, mid-rise buildings, and retail developments. His experience brings a level of professionalism, safety awareness, and operational excellence that sets HydroPower apart.

Matt is also a proven entrepreneur.

He previously owned Global Stampscape Systems, which he successfully sold in 2004. He later built Bigg Dutt’s Barbecue, growing a line of BBQ sauces and rubs into distribution across more than 1,000 stores along the East Coast before selling the company in 2014.

In addition to his business accomplishments, Matt is deeply involved in his community. He coaches youth baseball and serves as the Commissioner of the MARA High School Basketball League. He is also NASCLA-accredited, qualifying him to be a licensed contractor throughout the United States.

Known by many as “The Sloth,” Matt competed in the Philadelphia Wing Bowl seven times and was ultimately inducted into the Philadelphia Wing Bowl Hall of Fame—a testament to his competitive spirit and larger-than-life personality.

But above all, Matt is most proud of his family. He shares his life with his wife, Julie, their sons Cole, Adam, and Max, and their daughters Katie and Maci—along with their two dogs, Mylo and Tilly.
